Introduction to Shamsabad and Shahpur Muslim Community
Shamsabad and Shahpur Muslim Community (Attock) Registered, Karachi, Pakistan.
Registration No. BSW-365 of 1963
Registered under the Government of West Pakistan, Basic Democratic Social Welfare & Local Government Department in 1963.
Establishment of the Community:
The Shamsabad and Shahpur Muslim Community was the result of the wisdom, thoughtfulness, and consciousness of our elders. They moved to Karachi, a thousand miles away from their homeland for livelihood, and laid the foundation for this community. Our elders had settled in Karachi by the late 1800s and early 1910s. Their initial residence was in Chakiwara, Lee Market, which was the heart of Karachi at the time.
Overcoming various challenges, they adapted and collaborated with other communities to join the Chachi-Hazara Organization at Chakiwara Eidgah in 1932. By 1935-36, they established their independent identity, resulting in the formation of the Shamsabad and Shahpur Muslim Community in 1936.
The community was inclusive, with no distinction between different clans or tribes. Most of the members were farmers, craftsmen, and less educated. Consequently, leadership was entrusted to an educated individual, Syed Jawad Shah (son of Syed Vilayat Shah), even though he was not from their village. Under his leadership, legal requirements were fulfilled, and key positions were established:
1.Patron-in-Chief
2.President
3.General Secretary and Executive Committee
Key Appointments:
1.Syed Agha Jawad Shah was honored as the Founder and Patron-in-Chief of the community.
2.Sain Noor Muhammad (son of Faqir Muhammad) was chosen as a patron for two years due to his services. He hailed from Mohalla Dhakki, Shamsabad.
3.Ghulam Habib Awan (son of Ghulam Haider Awan) was selected as Patron-in-Chief from July 1980 to January 1985. He belonged to Mohalla Sarai, Shahpur.
By 2024, 14 individuals have served as Patron-in-Chief, with the complete list provided separately.
Presidents:
1.Abdul Haq Suhrawardy (son of Jamal Din) from Mohalla Manshiyan/Moliyan.
2.Fazal Qadir (son of Alam Din) from Mohalla Moliyan, Shamsabad. By 2024, 26 individuals have served as President.
General Secretaries:
1.Malik Azeem Khan (son of Ahmed Khan) from Mohalla Feroz Pura, Shamsabad.
2.Fazal Qadir (son of Alam Din) from Mehran, Shamsabad. The full list is provided separately.
Our community adheres to democratic traditions, holding elections for cabinet positions every two years and for the Patron-in-Chief every three years. The newly elected cabinet for 2025-26 has taken charge.
The cabinet operates various committees as per the constitution, actively serving members. All officeholders and executive committee members work voluntarily for the welfare of the members.
